With our private classes you can work 1:1 with Ben in your own home learning a range of skills from afternoon tea pastries to chocolate work and everything in between. This covers London and the surrounding areas. 

All classes come with a free consultation to discuss the agenda depending on your equipment, skill level, kitchen size, time and what it is you really want to learn.

Basic skills class
(full or half day Available)

Learn the basics of the kitchen with this 1 day course focusing on all the basic skills and knowledge you need to follow any recipe, as well as meringue, cupcakes and buttercream.

 

Cost (Half Day):

Afternoon tea pastries class

In this 1 day class learn how to produce the perfect full afternoon tea with freshly made sweet treats and scones.

Dinner party desserts class

Learn the secrets to making showstopping desserts easy with our dinner party desserts class. Impress your friends with Michelin starred restaurant worthy dishes that can be prepared at home.

Team building class
(full or half day available)

Get your team together for a few hours of team building fun. Cook along with one of our chefs making items of your choice from fresh breads to gingerbread houses.

Full weekend course

A course that is completely tailored to you. Spend a full weekend 1:1 with our head chef Ben Mariner. After an initial consultation on what you are looking to learn and your experience, we will work out a plan to take you cooking to the next level.
This is the perfect intensive course for students getting ready to break into the industry, professionals looking to refine techniques or complete beginners that want to become competent home bakers quickly.

Ben Mariner

Ben Mariner is the owner and plated desserts coach at The Online Pastry School.
His Career started at age 13 working at a number of restaurants and boutique hotels in Dorset before earning a full scholarship with The Royal Academy of Culinary arts at just age 16.

After training with the Royal Academy he was sent to one of London’s iconic five star Hotels, The Goring. It was here that Ben’s career started to take shape. After five years at the hotel he progressed to Pastry Chef de Partie, along the way taking part in the preparations for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011. This was followed by the honour of cooking for HRH Queen Elizabeth and members of numerous royal families from all corners of the world. T he icing on the cake came in 2013 when the restaurant won its first ever Michelin star since its opening in 1910.
After leaving the Goring in December 2015, Ben travelled to Melbourne, Australia to take on the role of research and development chef for celebrity chef and Master chef Australia judge, Darren Purchase.
During his time in Melbourne, Ben produced cakes and patisserie for the Melbourne based pastry shop as well as the products used for the opening titles of Master chef Australia, the VIP lounge at Formula One grand prix, the Australian open and the Melbourne cup.

Two years later Ben was head hunted for a return to London, now working part time as head pastry chef and running the Online Pastry School with help from a fantastic team of six.
